Lincoln - Time News       Ken Baker’s wine hobby leads to his new business by: Sarah Melton (10/21/2009)  Ken Baker has turned his hobby into a tasty business. Charlotte Observer                                             Owner/vintner Ken Baker plans to produce and sell about 10 varieties of wine at Sweet Vine Winery, the retail wine store he opened Aug. 27 in the WestPointe Shoppes retail center on N.C. 16, a mile north of N.C. 73. Baker has made wine for years as a hobby at his home on Orchard Road in Iron Station, giving it away as gifts. Using 100- and 300-liter stainless steel fermenting tanks at his store, he intends to produce 8,000 bottles a year of what he will likely call his Sweet Vine Winery label. More...

Local Winery Sells Delicious Wine and Much More Photo by Anna J. Fortenberry -- 3/3/2010 By Anna J. Fortenberry Denver, North Carolina is about as far from California‟s famous Napa Valley as you can get, but a local business is bringing a touch of class and some wonderful homemade wines to Denver as Ken Baker lives out a dream. You may not see his private labels on the national wine market, but Baker hopes more people in the East Lincoln area will come to recognize such Sweet Vine offerings as Midnight Kiss Pinot Grigio or this areas own Lake Norman Sunsets Cabernet or even Wilson Creek's Whitewater. He also offers his Fire Engine Red with $1 of the each bottle sale going to local fire departments. It's all brewed in Baker's wine shop.
